la fayette, no delays. here's steve. >>> mostly clear, cold this morning. a little breeze for some. most temperatures are in the 30s. there are some upper 20s. we have a system coming in. it's splitting. i think the pattern -- this is a sign of things to come here for a while after what's been a very, very busy november and disease. i think things quiet down in january. part of this system will go north. part it is will south. 28 in santa rosa. 47 in livermore. this may be a very localized event. this is at the livermore airport. out by the lab, it's 33. they are getting a little northeast wind off the altamont pass. that's the only thing i can think of because not far away, it's 15 degrees chillier. upper 30s for some lowser to the -- to the bay. 6 -- for some lower to the bay. 6 below in tahoe. man. that's cold. see a little bit of shower activity trying to form off the north coast. i think this is falling apart. this low is heading towards southern california and i think therein lies the trend. the pattern looks quiet for the for the next 10, 15 days. you usually get a little do

is moving in. steve said there's already a little bit of rain falling in the north bay. more lane will cover the bay area tonight and tomorrow. it won't be as bad as last weekend's downpours. steve will join us with the full forecast in just a few minutes. and if you take highway 1, you might want to give yourself some extra time today. coming up at 7:30, where the highway is being reduced to one lane and the work that's being done to prepare for another round of rain. we have new video of a fire in petaluma. you can see this home on sadler was completely engulfed in claims. it was reported at about 3:30. sonoma county fire says it was complete lit contained around 5:30. no reports of injuries -- completely contained around 5:30. no reports of injuries. >>> police are looking for the person who caused this cause fire. >>> today, county supervisors will meet about possibly closing four fire stations. the stations scheduled for closure are in walnut creek, clayton, martinez and la fayette. the closure list comes about a month after voters in the contra costa fire district rejected m

toward downtown where we haven't seen any delays either this morning. 7:07, here's steve. >> thank you very much. beautiful sunrise over the big city here. we have some areas that are clear, probably some fog otherwise its clouding up especially to the north and some rain is trying. this is not a strong system but every system so far in a rain year -- or a wet year you go with it. in a dry year this doesn't have a chance but there will be light rain parallel to the coast. it's cold. pockets of fog. mostly cloudy. chilly to cold. for some not too bad but for others really cold out there. rain develops and if the system has enough punch snow level could be around 2500 feet. that wouldn't be until later though. 34 seems possible there. livermore and concord. 1 degrees in tahoe, sacramento 32 and even reading at 30 degrees. there's cold air to the north. you can see the lines right there -- some of that air is mostly clear. that's where some of the fog has been forming. looks like i doubt much of that is reaching the ground but it might. some of this lighter rain is starting to fill in

steve. >>> thank you, sal. a very good morning. a very cold morning. mostly clear. there will be some clouds along the coast. but colder and windy. very cold tonight into tomorrow. we're -- freeze warnings and frost advisories are posted. today, windy and colder, mostly cloudy, partly sunny. and then we'll focus our attention on increasing clouds. rain returns and even mountain snow. this looks pretty impressive. we went into the weekend today. 37 degrees in crescent city and raining. that's pretty cold there. you can see some of the rain/snow mix. a lot of the:00 moving in run -- a lot of the cloud cover moving in runs through the coast. cold, windy, i've seen about 25, 35 miles an hour. higher 40s, mid-50s but that's right by the water's edge. the rain won't arrive until thursday, friday. men so dino, sonoma fog skirting the coast. some of that may -- mendocino, sonoma fog is skirting the coast. a lot of 30s and 40s. 31 ukiah. 34 eureka. that's really cold up there. even 20s, they will have single digits in tahoe and truckee. look for cold conditions, breezy and then after that

expressway. >>> let's go to steve. >> thank you, sal. we have low clouds coming in. this is on parts of the coast and moving south. it looks like it's about half of the san mateo coast. there is a ribbon of fog from the sacramento valley and san joaquin valley. our system kos not -- does not have a lot of rain but it has a lot of cold air with it. it will be moving in tomorrow. today we have low clouds, again, combination of the two. low clouds. it will be a cooler day even with sun for a while. sometime this time of year, when you get a cold front moving in. those clouds start to move in. clouds tonight and then -- it's a light rain coming in late tonight, tomorrow morning. .10, maybe .50 at the most. the snow level is coming down. this will be good news for the is sierra, shasta/lassen, they will get the snow levels. not a lot of snow out of the first one but we'll get the levels down to 4500 feet. it will turn much colder. it's already cold to the north. a lot of 30s from santa rosa, napa down to gilroy, 38. livermore, 39. concord, 38. i've seen 37 sonoma. 38 bethel island. it's defi

about heavy rain, torrential rain. steve paulson called in and said, we've got major rain. he's in his favorite now. he says, it's coming down. to get these guys to react, to get meteorologists to react, it's a big deal. heavy rain moving south into fremont and san jose. so what i've done and these have been very helpful all morning, the storm reports. first of all, you see the yellow. you see the major activity. the back edge of it leaving san francisco. this thing has start up in the last hour or so. as we look at the storm reports, they are very telling. let's go to this one right here in san jose. we are looking at a nonunderstrength wind gusts. 80 miles per hour. these are not just your average -- these are trained observers coming up with 80-mile per hour gusts. what was going on up on the hill. boulder creek. a debris flow. to get a debris flow, you must have major ring events. in boulder creek, if that were now, they still have more ring to go through. they will see more problems. let's go. see what happens. so you are getting the picture. he's just pop up. i haven't really rea

, the rain started pouring pretty good here. yeah, but steve's been talking about it all morning. we're not expecting huge rain amounts from this storm but the ground is saturated from the storms and some commuters and residents are not taking any chances. we talked by a lumber company in mill valley. owners and employees putting sandbags there and keeping them there because of the rain. this store was flooded past sunday. storeowners tell us after this incident over this past weekend with the recent storms that they just didn't want to take any chances. >> worried about tomorrow morning? >> hopefully, it will be not that bad. >> reporter: we did drive by the store early this morning and it looks like the sand bags are working right there right now. the rain is continuing to pour down here and hopefully the sand bags will prevent any flooding here. on a side note as we take a look at -- i think the biggest concern is the roadways. tara's been talking about it all morning. there were three accidents on the 80. if you are heading out this morning, take it easy on the roadways and slow dow

. splash and dash, as steve likes to call it off to the east, east of san jose. milpitas seeing higher elevation rain and snow. for most of us, mainly dry, mostly cloudy, a little breezy in some cases, making temperatures feel all the more cooler. 46 degrees right now in san francisco. 47 in oakland. 48 in napa, which is warmer than yesterday. but with this added breeze here, anywhere from 5 to 10 to 15 miles per hour. 13 reported in fairfield, 10 at sfo, 15 to 20 at half moon bay. you can expect temperatures to actually feel anywhere from 5 to 10 degrees cooler than what i just showed you. feels more like 30s and low 40s out there, even though the readings are telling us mid to upper 40s. here is your forecast. we'll be with mostly cloudy skies for the morning hours. for the afternoon, we are partly cloudy to mostly sunny. now we're into sunday. sunday's going to be mostly clear and cool as well. now we are into new year's eve. by monday, 6:00 notice we've got gray skies, another weak storm that's riding right along the coastline. that will bring us a slight chance for a few sprinkles
